“There’s no value in giving someone flowers once their dead.”
I heard this saying today; in a conversation about the subject of compliments. It got me thinking about how difficult it can often be for us to accept a praise; challenge for some being sort of an inability to trust or believe someone’s sincerity as well as fear that our faults will be exposed when they know more.
Perhaps we can all relate in some way, shape or form – but at the same time I thought about the gift in giving someone a compliment; not so much for surface things but rather, for whom they are. It seems to me that we live in a world of such negativity that to give another human a genuine compliment is or can be a loving/accepting act that can provide another comfort, especially if they can draw positives about themselves from it.
