At the opening of last nights coffee house fundraiser TERESA GiBSON-PERON talked about some of her challenges; after years of struggling with weight issues she recently lost 125lbs, & is now taking on the challenge of Kilimanjaro while raising funds for Flin Flon’s Women’s Resource Centre. She is 52 years (young) today – & surprised herself with this accomplishment; realizing that perhaps its never too late to do what you think is the impossible. So now she is on a mission: next stop Mt. Kilimanjaro! All in the name of raising funds for the Safe Haven program at Women’s Resource Centre.
In addition to her inspirational speech last night, GiBSON-PERON also delivered a sweet performance of ‘Stand By Me’, accompanied by DOUG McGREGOR & ANN ROSS; but there was much more to enjoy; including all sorts of delicious treats, local performers & a comfy atmosphere in the Northminster Church on Braken St.
FiVE EASY PiECES was also there to contribute; although our very talented friend CHAD PABiANEK suffered from a bruised & sore hand from a fall earlier this week, it still couldn’t prevent him from joining us. We had a lot of fun; starting off with a cover of DOLLY PARTON’S ‘My Tennessee Mountain Home’, & trading off on songs that we hope offered the crowd some variety & escape. These musical times are really important to me & I’m just happy to have opportunities like this in my life.
FiVE EASY PiECES will be playing several other venues this season so stay tuned for more. ANN ROSS will also be accompanying me for a solo gig I”m doing for the Flin Flon Bombers fundraiser – aka ‘Ladies Night’, which while be on November 16th, Creighton Community Hall.
