CC CHRONiCLES: FiVE EASY PiECES DOES ORANGE TOAD / NOVEMBER 23 2012

Published by cctadmin on November 24th, 2012

VERY BiG THANKS to ORANGE TOAD & the girls who worked so hard last night; I can say that all of us in FiVE EASY PiECES appreciated the fun & the chance to play this venue.  Growing up here we did not have an ORANGE TOAD; but its a very special place to have now.

FiVE EASY PiECES assembled rather organically within the past 4 months, & getting to play for people is just an added bonus. I had a great time, with my musical friends & also getting to see so many people out.

I inevitably took an array of photos last night to cement my memory; so below I have selected some to share.

The below are random LP covers of records Doug will enthusiastically share with me during our jam/rehearsal nights.

CC TRUBiAK PHOTOGRAPHY: THE MAN i LOVE

Published by cctadmin on November 6th, 2012

As much as I like to share – I have a tendency to keep my love life private if I can.  Today however is an exception; after all its my 6th year anniversary to my boyfriend, the man I love & am proud to have in my life.  So I send this little message out to the UNiVERSE: THANK YOU for blessing my life with this man; my friend & very much my family.

CC CHRONiCLES: DiSCOVERiNG DOUG’S AUTOHARP & PiCKiNG THE WiLDWOOD FLOWER

Published by cctadmin on November 6th, 2012

So I’m learning to play the autoharp, thanks to Doug for introducing it to me at our weekly jam/rehearsals.  I can’t explain why, but I’ve always loved the sweet sound of this instrument; back to my days of listening to THE CARTER FAMiLY & MOTHER MAYBELLE play so so beautifully.  Last night FiVE EASY PiECES got together & worked out several new (& old ) tunes to add to our repertoire, including ‘Wildwood Flower’, allowing me the perfect opportunity to get the hang of the autoharp while singing the classic tune.  Check out some images from last nights music fest.

CC CHRONiCLES: ‘FiVE EASY PiECES’ DOES KiLIMANJARO FUNDRAiSiNG COFFEE HOUSE

Published by cctadmin on November 4th, 2012

At the opening of last nights coffee house fundraiser TERESA GiBSON-PERON talked about some of her challenges; after years of struggling with weight issues she recently lost 125lbs, & is now taking on the challenge of Kilimanjaro while raising funds for Flin Flon’s Women’s Resource Centre.  She is 52 years (young) today – & surprised herself with this accomplishment; realizing that perhaps its never too late to do what you think is the impossible.  So now she is on a mission: next stop Mt. Kilimanjaro!  All in the name of raising funds for the Safe Haven program at Women’s Resource Centre.

In addition to her inspirational speech last night, GiBSON-PERON also delivered a sweet performance of ‘Stand By Me’, accompanied by DOUG McGREGOR & ANN ROSS; but there was much more to enjoy; including all sorts of delicious treats, local performers & a comfy atmosphere in the Northminster Church on Braken St.

FiVE EASY PiECES was also there to contribute; although our very talented friend CHAD PABiANEK suffered from a bruised & sore hand from a fall earlier this week, it still couldn’t prevent him from joining us.  We had a lot of fun; starting off with a cover of DOLLY PARTON’S ‘My Tennessee Mountain Home’, & trading off on songs that we hope offered the crowd some variety & escape.  These musical times are really important to me & I’m just happy to have opportunities like this in my life.

FiVE EASY PiECES will be playing several other venues this season so stay tuned for more.  ANN ROSS will also be accompanying me for a solo gig I”m doing for the Flin Flon Bombers fundraiser – aka ‘Ladies Night’, which while be on November 16th, Creighton Community Hall.
