The countdown is unbelievably close to showtime: two more days then DANNiEL, OLEX and I will be sharpening our horns, grooming our furry bottoms and fluffing up our tails all in the name of CORRUPTiON!
I can promise you this – we are incredibly excited to put this show on. With months of rehearsals, endless hours of practice and fine-tuning there is a bitter-sweet aspect that comes along with it all. Up until now, I’ve been able to rely on the company of DAN and OLEX regularly at our weekly (now bi-weekly ) TORRiD TUESDAY rehearsals – and along with this has come a great source of affection and intimacy between friends.
Take for example a realization I had just last night. There DAN sat at the piano playing the beautiful and dark ‘Moment of Fate‘ while OLEX and I perched under our would-be tree of life. Part of being in character involves the exchange of a fair bit of affection; huddled in protection, or lounging casually… i’ll gently stroke her hair or feel the soft caress of her hand down the small of my back…. the affection is all a part of the CORRUPTiON EXPERiENCE (LOVE/HATE, NATURE/SEX), mind you in that particular moment I had the realization that this EXPERiENCE has in fact provided me with a great source of intimacy in my already fortunate life. What a joy when you find these kinds of bonds.
I’ve known DAN and OLEX in truth for only the last couple of years yet the tenderness I find we all freely exchange with one another is a testament to what kind of friends and professionals they are. And though this incarnation of THE CORRUPTiON of FLESH is about to wrap up with this performance – I know we will look forward in fun as we try to re-invent it.
That said – I think I feel a little nervous about Friday night although the thought of my friends there provides a great sense of support to help ease those performance nerves. This has also been one of, if not the busiest week I’ve had in a very long time – the build up is intense but I believe all in all we are fired up and ready to go!
